We'll explain how.

Check the alignment and installation of the range hood

Before you start finishing, make sure the hood is properly installed, level, stable, and that the electrical connection and exhaust duct are in place.

Install finishing panels (front and side panels)

  • Side panels: If the cabinet around the hood does not have fixed fronts (especially on the sides), you can install wood or laminate panels to unify the design. Cut the panels to the correct dimensions and secure them with discreet screws or suitable fasteners.
  • Hood front: If the hood has a decorative metal or glass front, check that it is correctly positioned and secured. You can also add a false wooden front to conceal the metal structure of the hood if necessary.

Install a baseboard

For a more finished look, you can install a baseboard under the hood. This hides the bottom of the cabinet and gives it a more elegant appearance. The baseboard can be made of wood or metal, depending on the style of your kitchen.

Attach decorative panels to the front of the hood (if necessary)

  • Some built-in hoods can be covered with decorative panels that attach to the front of the appliance. These panels are usually made of wood or aluminum and are designed to blend in with your kitchen décor. If you have this type of finish, simply attach the decorative panel using the screws or fasteners provided.
  • Covering with matching materials: If you want the hood to blend in with the design of your kitchen, you can opt for a wooden or laminate covering that matches the other elements in the kitchen.

Hide wires and ducts

  • Hide wires: It is important to hide all electrical wires so that they do not detract from the appearance of the hood. Use cable covers or ducts to conceal them.
  • Exhaust duct: If you have an exhaust hood, make sure to conceal the exhaust duct (if visible). Use decorative ducts or integrate it into the overall design of the cabinet so that everything looks clean and harmonious.

Finishing the panels

If you have installed wood or laminate panels, you can apply a coat of paint or varnish to finish them off and give them a professional finish. Choose a paint that is suitable for kitchen cabinets and is resistant to moisture and heat.

Test

Before considering the installation complete, turn on the hood to check that it is working properly. Make sure the lighting is properly integrated and that the motor is extracting air correctly.
