HOW TO MAKE AN ADDRESS PLATE WITH A FLOWER BOX
Beside the front of your house, the address plate is the first thing that visitors see when they arrive at your home. So why not pay special attention to it! There are various models in stores, but it is hard to find one that really stands out.
How about you customize yours? Here are the four simple steps to make a beautiful wooden plate with an integrated flower box. It will certainly spruce up your entrance!
REQUIRED TOOLS AND MATERIALS
Use the mitre saw to cut the wood board following the measurements below:
Sand all the pieces. Keep two pieces of trims of 1 to 2 in each. If you wish them to be less visible once affixed to the wall, paint them the same colour than your house front.
In a vertical orientation on the 36 in board, fix the numbers starting from the top of the board, leaving enough space above the flower box so that the flowers do not hide the address. Make sure to leave about 1 in of space between each number. For the installation, follow the instructions provided with your product’s package.
To allow air to circulate between the wall and the address plate, glue the two trims saved during preparation on the back of the plate: one on top, between the first and the second number, and one at the bottom, opposite the flower box. Screw the address plate to the wall through the trims using a drill and treated wood screws of 2 1/2 in. Then you only have to fill the box with soil, plant your favorite flowers, and admire your good work!
