HERE ARE THE THREE SIMPLE STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPLICATE THIS MODEL!

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Intermediate

ESTIMATED TIME: 2 to 3 hours

REQUIRED TOOLS

  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Mitre saw
  • Drill
  • Clean cloth or paint brush
  • Sandpaper or sander

MATERIALS LIST

  • 3 pine boards of 1 in x 8 in x 6 ft
  • Wood glue
  • Wood screws of 1 1/2 in
  • Wood filler
  • Trims of 2 in x 4 in
  • Saman stain of the colour of your choice (here: dark chestnut, no 308)

PREPARATION

Using a mitre saw, cut the pine wood boards according to the dimensions of your washer and dryer, and adding 1 in to their total height and 2 in to their width. Sand all the pieces. For instance, we cut a 60-in-long piece and two 44-in-long pieces.

1- ASSEMBLE THE SHELF

Fix the three pine wood pieces together using wood glue, a drill and wood screws, placing the 60-in board at the end of the 44-in boards. Fill the holes created by the screws using the wood filler. Let dry, and then sand.

2- FIX THE BRACKETS

Use the wood trims to make the brackets in the top corners. To do so, cut two pieces of 2 in x 4 in x 13 in (longer side) with 45-degree bevel-shaped ends. Make sure that the shelf corners form a 90-degree angle before cutting the angled brackets. Use wood glue, a drill and wood screws to set all the pieces. The brackets must be placed at the back of the structure to leave room for the appliances underneath.
