HOW TO CHOOSE THE PERFECT DECORATIVE CARPET

Whether you like it more discreet or screaming, a nice carpet is the best way to add texture, softness and comfort to your décor. Here are a few ideas to choose the right carpet depending in which room you want to install it.

HERE ARE OUR GUIDELINES.

NOTICED ARRIVAL IN THE ENTRANCE

It is hard to imagine an entrance hall or a porch without a door mat to scrape your shoes when you arrive. As this area of the house is generally more limited, a 3 in x 4 in size should be convenient. Go for a material that is easy to clean, such as synthetic fibres (nylon or polypropylene), which are also affordable and very resistant.

COMFORTABLE LIVING ROOM

In the living room, a carpet can create an enveloping effect and complete your relaxation area. It is best to choose a size at least as big as the couch, about 5 ft x 6 ft, which you will place either beside, partially over or totally over the carpet. If you place furniture over your carpet, make sure to install pads or sliders underneath the legs to protect the fabric from marks. If your furniture is in a corner configuration, round carpets are perfect for that kind of setup.

COZY DINING ROOM

In this room, you can choose a large carpet, at minimum 6 ft x 7 ft, as all the chairs around the table should stay over it, even when they are pulled. Choose a low pile or short hair carpet to allow mobility and easy cleaning. As for the shape, it is quite simple: a rectangular carpet goes below a rectangular table, a square carpet below a square table and a round carpet below a round table!

SOFT BEDROOM

Add some warmth to the space where you spend the night. Your feet will certainly appreciate the softness when you get out of bed. We recommend that your carpet exceeds about twenty inches on the left, the right and at the foot of the bed. For double beds, 5 ft x 7 ft sizes are particularly interesting, while 8 ft x 10 ft are great for queen size beds and 9 ft x 12 ft for king size beds. Choose a pattern to match with your bedding and do not hesitate to opt for textured carpets!
