Want to have a little fun in your backyard this summer? Why not make your own games? Here are 3 different ideas of games to entertain young and old and have a good time with your family and friends.
4 natural pinewood boards of 1 in X 6 in X 8 ft
Black paint (acrylic or other)
Cardboard paper (for the template)
Semi-gloss water-resistant wood stain (like SamaN)
1 Canac wood crate
Use a circular saw to cut the pine wood board into 28 pieces of 28 cm (11 in) in length.
Sand all pieces using sandpaper or a sander, making sure to round off all the edges.
Use the cardboard paper and the pencil to create a template by drawing 9 circles of 2.5 cm (1 in) in diameter on both sides of the line. (Download our template here)
Using the template, paint the domino circles.
Let dry according to the paint manufacturer’s instructions and then apply a water-resistant stain to protect the wood.
Use a Canac wood crate to put your dominoes game away.
Sandpaper #80 or sander
Hot glue gun
9 empty wine bottles of different sizes and shapes
3 different colours of exterior aerosol paint (like FUSION) (paint from other projects can be used)
Oil paint (for the wood crate)
91 cm (36 in) of 1-cm (½ in) rope
30 cm (12 in) of jute rope
Wash the empty bottles of wine and remove their labels carefully.
Paint the bottles using three different colours of exterior aerosol paint of your choice.
Sand the Canac wood crate and then paint it using oil paint.
Cut two pieces of 46 cm (18 in) of the 1-cm (½ in) rope. Use a hot glue gun to make two circles with the rope pieces. To strengthen the junction, use the jute rope and let dry.
Place the bottles randomly into the wood crate. Determine the number of points assigned to each colour (e.g. blue = 1 point, green = 2 points and pink = 5 points).
Paint brush
Ruler
Wood log
Permanent marker
10 rocks (choose size according to the selected wood log)
2 different colours of exterior aerosol paint (like FUSION) (paint from other projects can be used)
Acrylic paint of any colour
Sand the log and trace the tic-tac-toe lines using a permanent marker and a ruler. Leave to dry.
During this time, wash the rocks and let them dry. Paint 5 rocks with one colour and the 5 others with a second colour of aerosol paint.
Once the log is dry, apply a coat of wood stain.
Finally, trace “X”s and “O”s on the rocks using the acrylic paint.
