5 TIPS TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR POOL THIS SUMMER

5 TIPS TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR POOL THIS SUMMER

Safety, maintenance, furnishing, fun, organization: that’s all you need to know for your pool to be the source of maximum pleasure throughout the summer!

1. Safety

The first thing to do when installing a home pool is to restrict access to avoid a child falling into the pool without you knowing. To do this, all you need is to:

  • Enclose the pool with a fence according to the specified standards;
  • Equip all fence doors with spring hinges and a latch;
  • Place all objects (ex.: ladder, bench) that could help someone to climb over the fence out of reach.

2. Maintenance

Throughout the summer, several components must be maintained and checked to avoid breakage and to ensure that the water is clean at all times. Make sure to:

  • Regularly test the pH level, alkalinity, and chlorine content;
  • Check the pump and the filter to make sure they work properly;
  • Empty the pool skimmer and regularly clean it;
  • Brush the walls and the bottom of the pool to prevent algae formation.

Not sure about the water quality? Have it analyzed. Canac offers this service year-round.

3. Furnishing the Pool Area

In order to make the pool area a little more friendly and comfortable, furnish the different areas surrounding the pool: bar area (for cocktails next to the water!), dining area (for a bite between dips in the pool!), and a relaxation area (for taking it easy while simultaneously keeping an eye on the children splashing around!). Also consider lounge chairs for basking in the sun and a sunshade (or two!) to avoid overexposure.

4. Fun Accessories

Floating chairs, balls, inflatable toys (animal-shaped or other), water noodles, water guns, snorkels, flippers, or waterpolo, basketball, or volleyball nets… Hours of fun for both young and old!

5. Organizing the Surroundings

There’s nothing worse than wet towels hanging around the pool (without ever drying!). To avoid this, install hooks on a structure close to the pool; this way, everyone will have a hook on which to hang their towel! Tired of tripping on pool toys? Building a storage bench to store them in will not only clear up pool area space but also provide a few extra seats near the pool!
